The upgrades, available now (May 13, 2021) for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S aren’t as extensive as some for other games, such as Rebellion’s Zombie Army 4: Dead War and 4A Games’ Metro Exodus, for example, but they will give the game a new coat of paint and help it sustain a higher, more constant frame rate.
According to the information released on the official Remnant website, the next-gen upgrades include the addition of fidelity and performance modes for PS5 and Series X, where Remnant will be able to run at 4K 30fps. PlayStation 5 and Series X will also be able to run the game in performance mode, hitting 1080p 60fps. This latter option is the only available option for Series S players.
Remnant: From the Ashes is also now available on Xbox Game Pass for PC. PC and Xbox players will be able to team up and take on The Root via crossplay.
It’s great that Remnant has received these upgrades since frames in some of the game’s denser areas, such as Corsus, can chug along in the PS4 version. Considering much of survival is reliant on well-timed dodging and evasion alongside methodical gunplay, the increased frames will make Remnant even better.
Remnant: From the Ashes launched in 2019, and we called it a “Left-4-Souls” shooter, one that combines challenge with “intuitive fighting.” It’s surprisingly fun and well worth looking into for any fan of shooters and From Software’s venerable fantasy series. The game was recently a complimentary game on PlayStation Plus.
